A is for apple
B is for book
C is for--
Oh, wait, Mom,
What made you look?

D is for dinner
E is for eat
F is for frail
Quick, Mom!
Miss Daddy's beat!

G is for groan
H is for hate
Is is for imbecile
"Timmy, finish your plate"

J is for judgement
K is for kick
L is for love
Which makes Mommy sick

M is for mean
N is for no
O is for out!
"Off, away, go!"

P is for pain
Q is for quick
R is for raspy
Tears that Mom omits

A is for apple
B is for book
C is for crested ring
That lays where I look

The author's comments:
The idea for this poem randomly came to my head after I scribbled "A is for apple/B is for book" in my notebook. The poem took itself from there, gradually forming this cruel image of a child witnessing a fight between parents. I hope it sends a message to the effects of parents (and their marriage) on kids.
