The Life of a Tear
As that little, shiny droplet falls down from my big, brown eye
My mind strays to the saddest of memories.
There's always a "he" involved.
But today, instead of lying face down on my rotten and antiquated bed
I got up and walked over to my mirror
And I watched the tear that he caused to drip down like a broken faucet
Gaining speed as it made its way around my cheekbone
Glimmering as it hangs around my jawline
Tickling the indent near my jugular vein
Leaving a water trail like a slug leaves its unforgettable, intractable path
Just as you have done on my heart.
