A Grave

Broken like a ragdoll,
It’s eyes bleeding
With regret and remorse at the sights it has seen.
Burned, defiled, shorn of any dignity
Like a thousand years have passed
And a thousand roses come
To mark the grave of a great lover and a friend
Who is no longer there to catch my tears
And steady my everlasting remorse and regret
At what I have done
And what I have failed to do.
