Exploring Us, Toghether

Exploring old sanctuaries
and the religion of new ones together,
but promise not to put me down.
Together,
through goofing off in class,
while trying to find runaway sisters,
we came close in countless ways.
Together, through sneaked looks
and enduring my giggles,
through sunsets and waiting
and the claps of our hands.
Once we have gone our separate ways,
I’ll have only Doc Holiday and handmade quilts
to keep me company.
I would rather have you and I together.
We are exploring creaking sanctuaries
and choosing that old religion together.
Still promise me. Never put me down.
