Butterflies...
As it always seems to be:
Your love is my reality.
As the darkness creeps all around me,
Open your heart and help me see.
Even though you are my only need,
Your troubles always start with me.
I can't hold on, I just cant breathe,
I can't believe you've forsaken me.
Outside her window, on my knees
I sit and watch here, obsessively.
He tends and serves to her every need
A knight in armour on his valiant steed.
The details in this ghastly blight
Are witnessed by my observant sight
I raise my hand to avoid the light
And take a breath to still the night.
She brushes her hair only to expose,
The tiny wrinkles on her nose
And her gentle, brilliant smile glows
As she watches every place he goes.
Dinner and a show, from what it looks like.
With candles lit by a matchstick strike
Realizing that they're too much alike,
I prepare myself for my late night hike.
She says something, and he replies...
Replies while looking into her eyes...
Those eyes that give me butterflies
and make my heart double up in size.
He holds out his hand with a lustful grin
As if to put up a phony where a man had once been.
I understand now of her horrible sin
As pitiful dispair washes over me again.
I stand there as my sweat glands leak,
While he runs his hand down her physique..
I ball up my fists and let a sudden shriek.
As a tear begins to roll down my cheek
They both tense up and look my way,
As the buck that had become the prey
Turned over to look, to his dismay
That too soon was he to pass away.
She squints her eyes... those beautiful eyes...
The eyes that that man will no sooner prize
He'll feed her more and more of his lies.
Of his true love and his butterflies.
The horror on her face profoundly shows,
And her new lover most surely knows
My presence was now completely exposed.
Now it seems everyone's heartbeat chills and slows..
I turned on my heel and made a pitiful retreat.
I ran as fast as I could move my feet.
My heart feels as if it cannot beat..
I ran, alone, down the cold, dark street...
All the time it used to be:
Your love was my reality...
The waves have swept me out to sea
In this ocean of pain, I cannot be free.
