Shelter
The storm is slick against our backs
raindrops hard and sharp as tacks
turn to hail and pelting sleet
that piles at our frozen feet
but somewhere we are warm and dry
sheltered by our patch of sky
every wind can be undone
beneath our umbrella of sun
I see his face and he sees mine
but words are really most divine
looping 'round us, sweet and true;
"I'll always be there for you."
Hand in hand we sit and smile
taking refuge for a while
finding what we most adore
till we must brave the storm once more.
