Falling Transformation
Look down:
The sphere spins in the distance, merging its colors
sapphire and jade are decipherable, but rotation blends all others.
From here the earth is beauty; an ornament to the cosmos.
Glistening, sparkling, it shines like a gem emerging from the shadows.
Look down:
Advance and you will see the foggy layer of white
that levitates above at massive height.
How gorgeous it is, this earth just below
how peaceful, how tranquil; all that sounds is the wind’s slight blow.
Come down –
Through the clouds we now travel; we see the waves heave.
They bump and they tumble, while the land is filled with creatures that grin or grieve.
Yet there’s still such radiance on this gem of a sphere:
flowers that smile, and sunsets that paint the sky with hues of cheer.
Come down –
For now we stand on this world with people who bustle about.
We see their strained faces, the crime, sadness and doubt.
What happened to the glory we observed moments before?
How did we get lost so quickly in humanity’s lore?
Down here
all the flowers seem to wilt with a frown.
The sunset hurts your eyes, and oh, the painful sounds!
I hear children crying and people wailing in hunger.
Some cower in fear; others shout angry words at each other.
The solutions are nowhere to be found under the sapphire sky
the answers are missing in the jade-tinted land and the white clouds up so high.
No resolution exists on this earth in which we stand
and so to the hurting, the hungry, the strained and broken man –
Look up.
