Summer 2009
I SAW
the black words on the bright white page of my action packed novel and
the bright orange sun sinking in a rainbow of colors into the horizon.
I HEARD
the crash of the ocean waves breaking against the sand and
the seagull as it raced with the white fluffy clouds up in the sky.
I TASTED
the sweet watermelon, the juice racing down my arms and
the salt of the ocean in the sour, seaweed filled water.
I FELT
the miniscule grains of sand itching in between my toes and
goosebumps pebbling on my skin as I dip my toes into the icy cold water.
I SAID
“I love the beach” and
“Do we have to go?”
AND IT WAS THE STRANGEST THING:
I almost got claimed by the monstrous waves' hands and
yet I was aching for the rush of water around me at the end of the summer
