Brainwashed

We are brainwashed.
Drones of the controlling,
Slaves of the modern age.
Electronics control.
They consume your all-too-willing mind.
Letters, words, paper -
What are these?
Nothing.
A speck of dirt on a wall.
Will I see you tomorrow?
How do we talk?
Electronically controlled,
We have blissfully forgotten
How to communicate.

This is all too easy.
Time flies by.
I see your sad face
In a dingy picture,
Hear your sullen voice -
Or how I imagine it to be.
I hate it.
This wounds you
I will have none of it.
I will break free.

I follow your lead
We are rebels.
Silently we escape
And breathe in a world of
Colors,
Soft light -
Moonlight.
The harsh florescent glow
Fades -
Obliterated.
We are free
We are free.

Letters, words, paper -
What are these?
Inspiration.

The author's comments:
I got pretty fed up with how electronically-controlled we all are in this modern age.
