Growing Up
Two plus two equals four (always),
And the tooth fairy would never forget dollars under a pillow
A unicorn friend named
Starlight Dream Come True is natural
Band-aids will make everything better
And if they don’t
An “I’m sorry” will
Then a few more birthdays pass
Two plus two can be changed on a graphing calculator
And there are no more teeth to loose
A mouthful of metal
Imaginary friends are for babies
Instead of band-aids
All small injuries are brushed off.
“I’m sorrys” are exchanged for “it’s their own fault”
But the currency rate sucks
It’s called “Getting Older”
But isn’t it really
Just leaving part of
Yourself behind?

Wondefully truthful. Growing up may be part of life, but it's a bit sad.
I still have two imaginary friends, but they only talk to each other.
