Unrequited
hale my heart it is not
each daylight emotions continue to rot
in my reveries I think of you, this fantasy I know will never come true
delusions of togetherness, a world covered in blue
earthbound earthen man
connect the dots to Aries’ stars
eat away at my core until there is no more
love was never fated for me
made to hurt, meant to deceive
sing elegies for my grief until emotions turn stiff
evening turns to day feelings still alike
retribution for something, God’s strike
reminisce, remember, and gleam
a little love from you, my heart splice
nevertheless, I still see the wings of the angels
only then can I forget the ringing of the bells.
