The Corner of Ohio and Lakeland
The side with an old, dying tree,
On the corner of Ohio and Lakeland,
That's where I'll be...
Despite the arguments, the hatred,
which livened my tongue,
I'll be here fading, faded
Until my body is done.
When my skin grows paler,
And old age sets in,
I'll stay here, dying,
On Ohio and Lakeland.
Mother passed on,
Father died, too.
My brother has left me;
I'm all alone, with grand, empty shoes.
They were to be filled!
With greatness, bravery,
And every exuberant thrill.
All never actualized, all failed...
So, it's on this corner,
Though I hate to admit it,
That I'll strain till my end,
On the corner of Ohio and Lakeland.
