Favorite Quote:
There never was a good war, nor a bad peace. -Benjamin Franklin

Hiding inside my turtle shell,
Acting as though all is well,
Although a war is waged right outside,
No side can seem to turn the tides.

It was quiet inside that turtle shell,
No bombs exploded, no comrades fell,
Obliviousness does much outshine
Being torn to bits by a land mine.

But Lo!
No more can I take,
No long will I make this mistake!
I must see, I must hear!
Feel the pain, and the fear,
All outside my turtle shell.

The author's comments:
One day in school, I was thinking about war, and how the children at my school never seem to be drastically impacted by war. It's like we're inside a turtle shell.
