She's Beautiful
She looks in the mirror
And she sheds a small tear
She’s anything but clueless
Her body isn’t a new mess
She has short, bitten nails
Her makeup job fails
She sees her scarring zits
They match her cracked lips
Her curves have grown in all the wrong places
She knows she’s laughed at by everyone she faces
Her braces are gone but her smile isn’t right
Her hair is tangled, it looks like she lost the fight
She’s short for her age, but her nose is long like a bird’s
Her glasses are designer, but she still feels like a nerd
She’s as imperfect as you can possibly get
But yet
When he looks at her
He knows she’s beautiful.
She’s made many mistakes
She’s acted like a fake
She’s cost her parents too much money
She’s told jokes that just weren’t funny
She’s failed a test or two,
And misused the words “I love you”
She’s as imperfect as you can possibly get

She looks at the other girls
Flashing their diamonds and pearls
Their hair is as soft as silk
She’s jealous of how they’re built
They’re tall and lean
A little bit mean
And probably have discouraging fun
But she’d give anything to become one
Because even though she’s as imperfect as you can possibly get
She doesn’t know what he knows
She doesn’t know she’s beautiful.
