Does he give us quite a fright?
Or keep us company on a lonely night?
Does he wander around the hallways?
Or show us the smart ways?
Is he a sagging black rose?
Or a good, orchard dose?
Does he cause us misfortune?
And make quite a fortune?
Does he grab us in his lure?
Or give to the poor?
Deny all of our speaking words?
Or approve and echo our words?
Will he help us through the day?
Or not give us a say?
Is he our friendly guest?
Or our ghastly phantom?
One thing’s for sure:
He’s our ghost.
