“I am very interested and fascinated how everyone loves each other, but no one really likes each other.”
― Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Warm sun dropping
rays of heat and
life that starts in
the leaves,
energy running through
their thin veins
as they begin
to grow.
And as they flourish
(spreading like so
many fish
against an ocean
sky of blue)
they throw themselves
in between you and
the harsh sun,
like so many
gallant soldiers.
But their green youth
will darken,
painting the world
in the gold rain,
of Autumn leaves.
And once the ground
is covered with the lavish,
crunchy carpet
(that reminds us all
of childhood)
the branches paint
stark, jagged lines
against the sky
which now darkens
and turns periwinkle
as the stars reflect
on the moonlit lake that
ripples
where the snow lands.
But all too soon the branches
are no longer lonely and
have new budding life.
And again time seems
to stand still
as the warm sun drops
rays of heat and
life starts in
the leaves
