Paper Cranes
Rain pricks dully
The silver washed leaf
Dripping mineral green paint
Beads on a brown ochre wood
I’ve wondered at taking rain
Sliding its cool fingers
Through my hair and crusty bark
Forming pools at my feet
For the spirits to drink
Its soothing beauty
Like delicate paper cranes
A thousand little chimes
The singing of my hair
And the paper cranes glide
Across the still kingfisher blue
Mirror of water
