When our hands meet
When our hands meet, the floor gives way
The very tile becomes smoke, and we fall
We fall headlong into the bright abyss
Falling together, our hands never apart
When our hands meet, the colors on the wall
Suddenly become clearer…
They explode with brilliance and light
They create shapes and animals to amuse us
Just for you and I, darling
When our hands meet, the world is safe
The trees are no longer malevolent shadows
Evil men no longer roam the streets
With a chuckle on their lips
The world is good, my dear
When our hands meet, we are one
We are no longer apart, but together
Connected by this electric string, this wire
That exists in our palms, our beings
Only when our hands meet.
