The Mind's Well
Oh, the wintry days
 The heavens morrows
 Those ice-cold flays
 The widows sorrows

 That pound upon us
 night and day
 unmercifully
 and without pay.

 Do not throw
 your coins to beggars
 for will those beggars
 throw them back?

 Do not cast your soul
 to thieves
 for thieves corrupt,
 their morals lack

 Instead your coins
 spend wisely.
 And your soul
 keep well.

 Store it safely
where no one may take it
 in your heart
 or your minds well.
