Favorite Quote:
What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.

Dream like you will live forever, live like you will die today.

The 80's would have been nice
because
then
it was
Nirvana
while loud
at least interesting
with some variety.
Duran Duran-
great anytime-
and
a-Ha
classic.

Today?

We've got
Lady Gaga
Snoop Dog
Jay-Z.

Music is a beat
computerized
stuck on repeat
turn up the brass
grab a DJ
tell him
to jazz it up
and suddenly
you've got a beat
with an electric
BING!
every 5 seconds.
A song,
now
is a voice
chopped up
stuttering
distorted.
Lyrics:
sex, money
fame, drugs, beauty
la.
La.
La.

How is this beauty?
How is it enjoyable?
All I can hear
on the dance floor
is
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
and
UNH
UNH
UNH.

Am I supposed to know
what that
even
means??

If
there're no kids
listening
to anything but this
is
it any wonder
their dreams are laid to waste
in that vast portal
of glamour
and denial?

Is
it any wonder
everyone thinks
that smoking a pipe
is the best you can get
out of life?

Don't get me wrong
I know there's more to it than this.
There're songs
out there
guys like
K'Naan
who know what it's all about
who are doing
their best
to stay on the right path
but come on,
I turn on the radio
and I hear
"she turn around
and gave that big booty a smack!"

This isn't pretty
it's not music
to MY ears.

So what's up
with the rate
it's taking over the world?

It's got something up it's sleeve, man.

You know I had to rant.

A rant that my friends often hear from me :) I love Nirvana, I listen to them all the time! I am completely agreeing with this poem, music nowadays is... *tries to find something nice to say and comes up with nothing* .... yeah. I like your opinion and way of expressing it, kudos to you who takes the path less traveled!
