A Former Friend
A smile she had my former friend,
And with it my heartstrings she did rend,
Her eyes were that like ice’s ire,
Her wit was like a flaming fire,
Her hair hung down in auburn waves
A goddess amongst we lowly knaves,
When I saw her my heart leapt high,
yet I did not think my friend would die,
My soul grew cold, like a sea in fall,
And every day I now do call,
Out to my lost, near forgotten friend.
 My love.
