The Awards
After my practice on Friday
I walk back and forth, and back and forth
Nervous for the big day tomorrow
“There are so many people better than me”
“This is my first season.”
“I don’t want to embarrass myself”
Ring
Ring
Ring
I rush over to get the phone
“Hello”
“Hi this is Reilly I can take you to our meet tomorrow.”
AH! I was so excited!
I have been waiting for this call all evening!
As I wake up Saturday morning
Thinking about my routines
On the ride there, My heart was skipping beats
Looking into the crowd . . .
SO LONELY
Looking in AW at the other gymnasts
I hear we go to beam first
“OHHH NOO” I was thinking
My turn to go
Sweat coating the outside of my palm
I get on and boy am I shaky
The hardest skill is coming up
THE CARTWHEEL
W O
B
B L E
I wobbled a lot but I stuck it
Bars,
Then floor
Next up vault
As we were doing the awards
On Floor says the announcer . . .
I got my first 9 ever on vault
Only one place left, 1st!
At the end of the day
I ended up going home proud
With 3 golds, a silver, and a bronze
