Beauty's Not a Number
The women and her curves are labeled
To some they’re just a number
To others they’re a way of life
Measured in pounds
Measured by the eye
What happened to the days of Marilyn Munroe
When size 16 was beautiful
And curves spoke splendor
How come size zero is no longer enough
How come at size zero we’re still not thin
Why can’t beauty just be beauty
And we just be ourselves
Why must society dictate
The intake of our calories
And the way we see ourselves
We must not cower behind our bones
Nor shrink beneath our weight
Huddled in a ball
All skin and bones
Let the mirror of society break
And all us seize the day
Because beauty’s not just a number
Beauty is our core
