Success is not measured by what you accomplished but the oppostion you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.

Run from anything
Anything causing pain
Take off at break-neck speeds
Just go
Find an escape
I need out
Away from here
I need to see
Exactly where it lies
My destiny
I need an escape
When I was young
I ran from pain
Anything causing distress
Run away from home
I'd eventually be found
Sometimes I'd return on my own
I wasn't allowed an escape
Now I run freely
Feet pounding the pavement
Running half marathons
This time
I'm allowed to run
I'm allowed that escape
I need to see
Where I belong
Outside of hurt
I need my freedom
Breaking down in tears
I run
For my escape
Running is my escape

The author's comments:
I think everybody needs something they can do that helps them escape their troubles. For me, that is my running. When life throws you curveballs, need something you can throw back saying you can't hurt me. That needs to be your escape.
