He could hear the whistling of the wind through the tree branches
The almost choking thickness of the air, he could taste.
He could feel the fast pace and harsh winds slapping against his face
The dirt of the trees as he walked by, he could smell
Yet all he could see was black
Only black
Not from the rapid downfall of the rain
Not from the black of the light-less sky
But all the time
So there he walked
Not in any particular direction
Frustrated by the way life turned out for him
He walked on, deciding
Easiness, that’s what he wanted
Normality, that’s what he craved
Knowledge of anything other than blackness, he deserved
It could never be
And that…he knew most of all
He walked on
Not knowing the difference between safe and unsafe
He walked
Soon he felt the rush of cars moving rapidly beneath him
He heard the blares of horns n big trucks as they made their late night deliveries
He knew where he was
He could feel the cold metal bars of the railing underneath his fingers
He slowly climbed atop the bars
Danger. He shivered as the adrenaline rushed through him
Then he made his decision
