Everlasting Friendship
As I look back,
 On the past fourteen years.
I realize that our friendship is torn,
 It is bruised,
 And battered.
 It is bleeding.
I’ve seen you at your worst,
I watched you come back from the dead.
And then I watched your life fall apart.
I was supposed to be your friend,
I was supposed to be there.
 And I was powerless.
I could do nothing but watch.
I could feel you pushing me away,
 I saw you sinking further.
 I couldn’t help but cry,
 Not for our friendship,
 But for you.
 My dearest,
 My most faithful,
 My closest friend.
