Clock
The source of my distress comes from a simple machine.
Constructed by that of man, not of God;
Now I’d realized why it keeps you away from me.
It marks the days of all my joy!
And yet, it does not stay for long;
Because unknowingly it takes you away from me
Lost in doubt, but sure enough, brings you back again.
Only if it would cease its infernal ticking,
And stop the bands of time.
If only love did not have to wait;
Because of a constant rhyme.
Ringing in upon our midnight dance it keeps me wide awake
Cause one moment it’s here and then soon it’s gone
Its frantic little ticking marks the end of my own fate.
