As each New Year comes around,
I promise myself I will change.
Usually the resolutions go out the window,
And my old habits seem to remain.

But as the new decade begins,
I say now for the world to hear,
That this year I will be different,
This year will be the year of no fear.

I promise myself I’ll work harder,
In all aspects of my life,
Friendships, schoolwork, sports,
And do so without any strife.

I will focus more on what matters,
But never forget to have fun,
Living without any regrets,
And sleeping easy when each day is done.

I will take chances I never took before,
And try to break out of a shy outer shell,
I will be more outgoing and friendly,
And encourage others to do so as well.

This year will be different than others,
I promise myself that right here.
Because this year is not just 2010,
This year is the year of no fear.
