Her Smile
It is just two days after Christmas Eve
Two days after she got engaged to him
They’re on their way to the jewelers
On this chilly December day.
She steps out of my dad’s red Thunderbird
Holding her jacket closed to keep her warm.
She turns around to face my dad
Who is holding up a camera.
She smiles big, squinting her eyes so much
Her smile is not for the picture though.
She’s truly happy and deeply in love
Her smile is still there today,
and her love for the man behind the camera.
