Freeze tag

Dewy-grass-stained heels pounding,
rhythmic breathing steadily increasing.

Tan skin, sun-warmed lips avoiding
your ice eyes and cold embrace.

Hands made sticky by tree sap
from playing hide and seek in the tall pines.

You're getting closer
I'm running out of places to run.

Inhale, exhale, give up, give in,
fall into wild flower fields.

You see me, freeze me,
and destroy the flowers too.
