I feel like Charon
The Ferryman of the Dead
I ferry the weary and the sad
I carry them up from the depths
From pain and sorrow they come
To happiness, I take them
I linger in No Man’s Land
For I cannot stay in either place
For the pain of both hurts too much

I hate this job, but it’s who I am
It is my calling but its reward…
Is not lasting for I seek help
I, myself, look for one to pull me free
From my endless cycle across the sea
The Sea of Regret is not a calm one
The winds roar, the waves crash

I know the way for I travel often
Each trip is harder than the previous,
Every passenger gives me all their trust
For their safety I hold in my hands
As I row them to a better place
Their trip is one way but mine is round trip
A lonely job done by one forced into the quiet Hell
I feel like Charon.
