Again and Again
The shaded silhouettes of the trees
push against the clouds
while the slipping sun casts on the leaves
that were once so green and proud.
And I am so overcome
by the truth our surrounding planets hold-
we revolve again and again,
being born and then growing old
until we die and become one with the ground
and the dirt under our feet.
The significance life once held
is buried beneath us,
below us
pushing along with the dead bodies only closer to hell
and we pray to god their souls go the other way,
yet we continue on to another day
as if there was no loss at all,
just another daily fall.
So we roll on,
turning our heads from what is now gone,
letting go
of what we know
we cannot control.
