Letter to My Soul Mate
Hi there.
 It’s me.
Well, I guess you don’t know who I am.
 Actually,
I don’t really know who you are, either.
I don’t know anything about you.
I don’t know if you enjoy 80s music,
or if you like watching old movies alone on Friday nights,
or if you really enjoy asparagus,
 or if you really don’t.
 For all I know,
 you could be in Florida,
 or Ireland,
or Spain, or two streets over.
 You could have brown hair,
 or black hair,
 or red hair,
 or blonde.
 I could meet you tomorrow.
I could meet you next Easter.
I could meet you first year of college.
 I could meet you when I’m 24.
I could have already met you.
 But see,
even though I don’t know you yet –
 or at least, I don’t know you’re you –
you’re going to be very important to me
 one day.
 One day,
 you’re going to be
the most important person in my life.
I don’t know when it’s going to happen,
 but one day,
 we’ll have our first date,
 then our first kiss.
 I’m going to love you,
and you’re going to love me.
 Can you believe it?
 Just think:
 we’re going to get married!
 We’re going to make love
 and make sandwiches
and host barbeques in the backyard
 and cry sometimes
 and go on vacations
 and take some bad pictures
 and play some bad music,
 together.
 It’s crazy, isn’t it? –
especially considering we don’t know each other –
 but it’s true.
 You,
one person in almost 7 billion people,
 are out there somewhere
 living your life,
and you’re the one for me.
Today, we don’t know each other,
 but one day,
 we’ll be together.
 You can count on it.
 Whoever you are,
 wherever you are,
 you’re
 my
 soul
 mate,
 and one day,
 you’ll know it.
