The Tide
There is a river
With sand on the shore
Of a lovely vermilion shade.
Sand castles tower
Over little people
Who build the castles,
Who don’t see
The rising water
For what it is.
But the huge pebbly Kings,
Who sit upon the thrones,
See the water for what it is.
Their Queens with gritty voices
Whisper to the Kings,
They must not drown.
But the world is fallible,
The little people are wide-eyed,
And the Queens are bright-eyed,
But the Wide-Eyed
Escape.
The Tide.
