Panic Attack or a Thunderstorm?
Someone’s talking,
Or is it the wind blowing?
I hear clapping,
Or little droplets of rain?
My heart beats faster,
Or doors and windows close.
A monotone voice is talking,
Or a steady beat of rain.
A rhythm is found in the words,
Or puddles pool in the streets.
Name after name is called,
Or children run inside to safety.
My name, my turn,
Or the first strike of lightening.
My seemingly confident steps to the microphone,
Or the first rumbles of thunder.
My words, my thoughts, my moment to shine,
Or the heavens displaying their power.
I walk to my seat at the sound of cheers,
Or GOD’s laughter at my pathetic fear.
