I'll Be By The Roadside
I would say I love you
But what would you do?
Darling I must know
Do you love me too?
I could say I love you
But I know what happened the last time
She loved you
Didn’t you know?
You couldn’t open your heart
And so it fell to black
You left
Closed your heart off
Scarred to many times before
To many memories
So now you move along
Years spent wandering down the road
Looking for emotion to hold onto
Aching black for a heart
Looking for a love
In all the wrong places
In all the wrong people
Do you know how I wish I could hold you?
Heal the wounds
Erase the past
But you won’t let me in
Refusing to feel
Never letting the pain heal
Holding to it
Trying to feel
But pain is all you know
So until you let it go
I will wait
Here by the roadside
Hoping
Praying
Wishing
You might stop your journey
And rest a while
