What Can't Be Burned

I throw the little book into the fire
Leaving its recorded history behind
Casting it out of my life
But it is impossible to forget
Scars of the past will always remain
My little reminders
Forcing me to hold on
To what is best let go
What can never be let go
I can get rid of the journals
But the memories will remain
Following me forever
Haunting me
I will not be phased
I will trudge on
Taking moments to reflect on the past
But never repeat it
What's done is done
And I wouldn't change a thing
Though the regret is there
The lessons will never be forgotten
I have been taught
And will not fall again
But stand strong
Smiling at the ashes

This is a brilliant poem! This sounds like some of what I write, but this is completely unique and wonderful. Read some of my stuff?
