starfish
She walked along the beach
The warm sand shifting beneath her feet
Her dog wailing in front of her
 Barking at something
 She could not see
She could hear the waves crossing
 Hitting the shore
 In a constant rhythm
 She felt the ocean breeze
 The warm summer sun
 Beat down on her
 Her feet hit something
She bent down and searched for it
She ran her hand over its bumpy texture
And then along the edges of it
 This was something they
 Called a star fish
 And she idly wondered
If that’s what the stars in the sky looked like
