"Be exactly who you want to be, and love every second of it"

Who do you think you are?
Wearing wool sunglasses in
The morning light.
Stumbling over pebbles,
And burning in the
Rubble from far away.

But you keep walking on,
With your eyes in your hands
And your hands behind your back
So you can’t brace the fall.

No doors to open
Or new windows to reveal
Just lock them up
Along with your stars and heart.

Who do you think you are?
So blind to see, to know -
You are hiding behind
Your own prison bars.

The author's comments:
This poem was inspired by something that a girl said to me during a class at school. I was so taken aback by what she said and angered by this, that I immediately began furiously writing away in my notebook. Poetry is my one and true outlet, so I can let my emotions out without harming others with my words in the process. Ignorance holds so many of us back from seeing the amazing beauty of life and all the people that fill this earth.
