Living our lives on a raft
on a lake in the sky
The earth beneath us is engulfed in fire
I smell smoke a’risin
Water broiling
I see fearsome flames a’lickin the horizon

Bodies begin to pick apart the raft
tossing logs down to Earth
“Stop,” I tell them,
“You’ll kill us all”
They laugh
“That is our children’s qualm”

A can of kerosene, more logs
Tossed down by the others, singing Kumbaya
“Have your minds lost their tethers?
Is it only my mind unfettered?”
They smile
“You’re right, O Wise One,
Flesh burns so much better”

This is really great. I don't know anything about poetry, but there's some kind of hostility in your writing that I really respond to. I'm partly joking.

Your style is definitely unique on Teen Ink.  It's...I have no idea how to describe it.  It's twisted and meaningful at the same time.  Wow!

Wow! That was creepy and twisted and amazing! It was so good! It made my skin crawl and I think it's really impressive that your writing can do that. I loved it!

Thanks a lot, really. I appreciate it. Other teenagers don't seem to enjoy my writing (or understand it.) Glad to know somebody does.

Thanks a bunch.

I just commented on another piece of work by you. I love your style. You're perfect at creating chilling and twisted pieces of art, and I absolutely loved the last line. A smile crept on my face when I read it because of how perfect and creepy it was. Keep up the excellent work.
