What leads someone to giving up?
Have they failed to the point of
forgetting success?
Have they welcomed defeat like an
old friend?
Or accepted downfall like sleep after
struggling to stay awake?
Maybe they have lost everything
And are buried too deep to dig
themselves out.
Perhaps they've been beaten down,
Lost the strength to swim and drowned.
