Embarrassment
You smile, wave and say my name
I wish that I could do the same
Walking toward me I start to panic
Checking for spinach in my teeth that was organic
I knew from the day you poked fun
That I have loved you since grade one
I kept my love a secret
Because if I told no one would keep it
We have never even spoken before
But today I will stir up some courage from my core
As you get closer you start to say
But I beat you to the punch and out comes a “Hey!”
You look at me and there’s laughter around
I whip around and then feel like a clown
Since you gave me that look I feel ashamed
Because the girl right behind me has the same name
