Toes in the water, head in the clouds

Stick your toes in the water,
Cold but inviting.
One plunge is all it takes,
to be completely immersed.
The sensation overwhelms your every nerve.
Surrounded by the unimaginable feeling.
Painful, pleasurable, stinging, yet satisfying.
Spiraling into the depths of your conscience,
every feeling awakens.
Angst.
Fear.
Loneliness.
Along with affirmations of
Relief.
Euphoria.
Peacefulness.
Apprehensive to let go, but reality is gnawing at your ankles.
Head above water once again, craving that initial feeling,
but never again will it return.
