Here I sit
This isn’t who I want to be
I’m sick of it
Wanting to be free
They locked me up
And stored away my key
They put me up
I want to be free
I want to leave this place for good
I’m singing with tears in my eyes
If I could escape this cage I would
I will escape tonight
I am a bird
I want to win the race
I want to be first, not second or third
This test, I will ace
My feathers are made for flying
This cage is all I’ve ever known
I won’t let you catch me crying
For I’m a canary, I can’t be owned
