Eyes and Stripes

Eyes as bright as a dewy morning;
Staring down its prey;
Filled with a determination fiercer than fire;
The animal flexed its muscles and dug the ground with its claws;
Gradually, it stole forward not making a sound;
It breathed evenly;
Running;
Powerful legs moving;
Startled victim in grasp;
Needle teeth sunk into tender flesh and blood oozed from deers throat;
Death was upon it as the killer dragged it away into the shadows…
And the only things seen were eyes and stripes.
