In a small town
Who you know
Where you go
Means everything
So many
Expectations
Destinations
But you are
Falling into nothing
Suffocated by who people think
You are who you were
They leave you no room
To grow
To know things you didn’t then
When you made wrong steps
Labels and names from your past haunt you
Like ghosts of the worst kind
Because no matter how many times you try to
Kill the past
It keeps coming back
Again
And again
It hides in whispers and looks
Mistakes you made a long time ago
Might as well have happened yesterday
In a small town
