I wonder
As the music plays loud
And the cars drive by
I wonder who could be
Staring at me.

I wonder
Who is the child in the backseat
The one with red curls
Who could she be
Does she have a dog
Does she go to church
She stares at me
And I stare at her.

I wonder
Who is the man talking on the phone
Is he busy
Is his mother sick
Does he have a business meeting
Is he late
He stares at the road
And I stare at him.

I wonder
Who the Asian man is
Is he going to somewhere
Does he have a family
He doesn’t seem busy
Who is he
Why is he here
He stares at the road
And I stare at him

I wonder
Who am I
Who am I supposed to be
Am I somebody
But how can I be
There is nobody to be
There are too many people
Too many stories to tell.

I wonder
Do they wonder about me
Do they ask who I am
Or are they too busy
Wrapped up in their lives.

I wonder
Do they question
Do they ask themselves
Do they wonder
I wonder.

I wonder
As the music plays loud
And the cars drive by
I wonder who could be
Staring at me.

The author's comments:
I always ride down the freeway and stare at other people in cars and wonder why they're driving down the freeway too.
