"Carpe Diem" (Seize the Day)

Sun rises still
it's summers call,
the world not think
of last nights dark fall.
Eyes flutter still
reject her rays,
though she shines on
for endless days.
Thy walls of wings
I do spread,
And lift me high
from my dirt bed.
Though soar do I
to greater heights,
below the world
is filled with lights.
My Sister Sea
though vast and wide,
still rolls along
the countryside.
Yet in she brings
more than a watery bed,
leftovers from
the humans fed.
Auntie Air
who assists us to fly,
she guides us to
the northern sky.
Though unintentionally
she does spread
toxins,
that she is greedily fed.
And Grandfather Ground
wisest of all beings,
provides a home
for all with feelings.
Yet he is tattered,
torn, and blown apart.
Who could have
such an empty heart?
As I glide above
our mother Earth,
how sad she seems
filled with no worth.
Though others may say their lives
are filled with joy and bliss.
I say
how could it have come to this?

To love, to be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and vulgar disparity of the life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.”

This is awesome! I love the use of personification to get people's attention on what they are doing to their own planet.

Keep up the epic poems!

My favorite quote is one by Albert Einstein-
"Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Hope for tomorrow."

This poem is so profound- I had to read it twice! It really made me think about the earth and what we have come to. This poem has a great enviromentally conscious ring about it.

Definately keep writing! You should be very proud of this piece:)
