I lied.

But dead in the night
you will never know
how many times I cried.

How could you leave?

When you came back
I was startled
Did everything you said

These are the words I can never tell my best friend. Closer than anything, when she moved away and moved on to bigger and better things. I was left behind in a tiny town, and could not keep up with her new sophistication and though we still try to be friends, it can never be the same.
