dear brother, do you remember?
Dear brother
do you remember
a warm september?
A visit to the beach and pier
On my sixth year
that Changed it all
As I watched the waters fall
In over my head I swore I was so dead.
You reached out and grabbed a hold of my hand
We held on tight
And promised not to ever let go,
Six years later were still holding on
Staying strong.
The day at the beach has long since passed
But the bond we formed
Will never end.
Best friend, brother, and partner in crime
I was seven and you were nine
When we danced for the first time
I remember it like it was yesterday
The twirls as we watched the big girls sway
To the beat
And we stepped on one another’s feat
But couldn’t have had more fun
If we had been running barefoot on the sun
And riding bikes on the moon
You held onto the bake of my bike
When I abandoned the trike
You protected me
When I was to blind to see
They were trying to hurt me
But you stood patiently in my shadow
And were quick to follow
Me wherever I wanted to go
Dear brother, for being my bestie
And always saving me
When the waves crashed in over my head
I’ll be their for you always
Dear partner in crime
For doing the time
Along my side
Thanks a million
I love you times a trillion
Even if I’m bot around, know I have your back.
I’m in the crowd
Cheering at you football game
The same way you yelled my name
At every recital
And picked me up when I would fall.
So thanks for saving me
Without you I wouldn’t be
The person I call me.
Dear brother
Do you remember the summer
We spent getting into trouble
And pestering my mother
To let us run wild and free
The silly little things that were once you and me?
Do you remember the driving lesson
To the grocery store
When my dad said he was sure
We’d never drive
And was grateful we were still alive?
Do you remember riding the 4 wheel In your back yard
And our ghost stories and night?
Do you remember the bomb fires
And cups of strawberry milk at midnight?
Dear brother
Do you remember being my escort
To the biggest day of my life
And walking me in when everyone cheered our names?
When we started dancing to the waltz
And we took our bow?
When we giggled and laughed?
When we had code names
And spent summers playing games?
Do you remember all the times you said you’d hurt anyone
Who ever made me cry
And when you gave e advice
On all matters of life?
When you said you’d be my best friend?
Well dear brother
Thanks for saving me that day on the beach
Dear brother
For all that you are
Their no other like you.
Dear brother I love you
